Key Accountabilities & Activities

  • Maximising and improving recovery of debt within the whole department
  • Proactively chase outstanding balances by phone / letter / email / electronic portal to ensure that payments are made in accordance with the agreed payment terms
  • Identifying clients that default on payment terms and determining the most appropriate course of action to take, taking into account the profile of the client
  • Handling of complex client queries and the point of escalation
  • Issuing regular and ad-hoc analysis of debtor for internal management purpose and handling regular meetings with Senior Finance Team
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients through regular contact and review meetings
  • Escalating to the Finance Manager any issues on non-payment which may affect the cash collection forecast
  • Liaising regularly with the sales team and other departments to ensure that they are fully aware of any account issues
  • Making recommendations to the Finance Manager about accounts which need to be put on stop
  • Identifying, suggesting and implementing improvements
  • Issuing consolidated submissions and aged debt reports to clients by the agreed dates
  • Running credit checks and setting up new clients

Experience and Personal Attributes

Essential:

  • Previous experience of working withing a similar role as a Senior Credit Controller
  • Superb communication skills the ability to adopt communication styles
  • Strong negotiation skills and assertive approach
  • Professional and positive attitude when dealing with external and internal stakeholders
  • Proactive in alerting management to issues at an early stage
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and multitasking skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team to achieve shared objectives
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Good problem-solving skills and able to use your own initiative
  • Strong PC skills, must be adept in the use of Excel (to pivot table standard, Word and email
  • Diligence and attention to detail
